About L’Orient Rouge

L’Orient Rouge Restaurant is one of those spots you introduce with a smile because it quietly does everything right. Set in Bastos, Yaoundé, Cameroon, this Chinese restaurant brings a relaxed, city-friendly energy that works for quick lunches, casual dinners, and those late evenings when real food matters. From the moment you arrive, the vibe feels welcoming and unfussy, blending familiar Chinese flavors with a local rhythm that makes guests feel instantly comfortable. L’Orient Rouge is designed for flexibility, which is great because not everyone dines the same way. You can settle in for a laid-back dine-in experience, enjoy outdoor seating when the mood calls for fresh air, or keep things simple with takeaway, delivery, or even no-contact delivery. For people on the move, the drive-through option adds a layer of convenience that fits modern routines. The menu leans generous and approachable, offering small plates for sharing, quick bites for busy days, and all-you-can-eat options when appetite takes the lead. Drinks are part of the experience too, with beer, wine, cocktails, spirits, and coffee available to match different moments and moods. What stands out is how inclusive the offerings feel, since vegetarian and vegan options sit comfortably alongside classic favorites, making group dining easy and stress-free. Late-night food is available, which quietly turns the restaurant into a reliable go-to after long workdays or evening plans around Bastos. As someone introducing the place, it’s easy to highlight how L’Orient Rouge balances comfort, variety, and accessibility without trying too hard. Everything flows naturally, from service choices to menu range, creating a restaurant experience that feels current, friendly, and consistently satisfying. The atmosphere suits solo diners, couples, and groups alike, and the pacing of service keeps meals relaxed without feeling slow. Located in a lively neighborhood, the restaurant naturally becomes part of everyday routines, whether stopping by for a casual meal, meeting friends, or ordering in after a full day.

So, dinner out with the kids and I was thrilled at the experience. Neat place, polite staff, quite spacious and airy. There is an outdoor space and an indoor space. It was evening and being out with the kids, I went with the indoor space. However the outdoor space is an option to be considered if you are a group of adults, a couple or want a quiet dinner solo.... or during daytime yes? But that's just me. The wait time is average, the food is great and the rates fair. The lady in charge proposed some games to the kids as they finished their dinner and were on the hyperactive side..... which is great. Hint.... ask maybe when next you make it there? ... if they forget . I recommend.

The best « Chinese » restaurant in town … I mean « pure Chinese food », not Asian. And trust me, I’m a connoisseur when it’s about Chinese food. You may want to try their spicy beef soup & the sweet and sour pork ribs there are !

A go to spot for relatively cheaper and very delicious Chinese cuisine. very polite waiters and short wait time despite the number of customers in the restaurant.
